This year BWCF would like to commemorate our Friday Night Throwdown to Chelsea Tijerina, a beloved mother, member, and friend who tragically passed away at the age of 34 in a motorcycle accident on 5/27/21. All proceeds from the competition and raffles will be given to Chelsea’s family and used to setup a trust fund for her two children, Carolyn (3) and Connor (6). We want to give everyone an opportunity to compete this year and raise as much money as possible for Chelsea’s family so we are taking an “out of the box” approach to our competition/scoring and prizes. Athletes will have the opportunity to compete in individual or as a team (same gender or mixed). This means guys and girls will be competing against each other for the individual podium and M/M, M/F, and F/F teams will be competing against each other for the team podiums (this does require some math for fairness, but everything is explained below).
The top 3 Teams and Individuals for each division will get to CHOOSE their own prizes out of our prize pool based on placing. We will start by announcing the Individual RX 1st place winner and allowing them to choose their prize, then the 1st place RX Team… 2nd individual then 2nd team and finally 3rd place individual and 3rd place team. We will then repeat the same order for the Scaled division. Our prize pool is listed below:

Standards
Individual
All athletes will start on the rower. At 3-2-1- go, athletes will have 1 min to complete max calories on rower. At the 1 min mark (clock will count 3-2-1- go), athletes will transition to the AMRAP of 27 Double DB Front Squats and 21 Alt. DB Snatches. At the 2 min mark, athletes will transition back to rower to accumulate max calories. At the 3 min mark, athletes will continue where they left off on the AMRAP. This pattern will continue until the 10 min mark and athletes have accumulated a total number of calories on the rower and a total number of reps on the workout (5 min total on rower (rollover calories count), total reps of 27 front squats and 21 snatches on the AMRAP (5.27.21 is day of Chelsea’s accident).

Individual Scoring
Each individual will receive one score of total adjusted calories rowed (Women’s cals will be adjusted as stated below) plus total reps completed on the AMRAP portion.
To make this workout fair for women competing against men, we will adjust women’s total calories rowed by dividing their total calories by 0.675 (extrapolated conversion data from beyond the whiteboard) and rounding to the nearest whole number.
Example Individual Scoring Adjustment:

3 + 8 Front Squats on AMRAP
267 Total reps
(115 calories rowed. Three full rounds of 48 reps plus partial round of 8 reps = 152 reps. 115 + 152 = 267 scored reps)
Barbara
63 total Calories Rowed
3 + 3 Snatches on AMRAP
267 Total reps
(63 Calories rowed. 63/ 0.675 = 93.3 adjusted calories, rounded to 93. Three full rounds of 48 reps plus a partial round of 30 reps = 174 reps. 93 adjusted calories plus 174 reps = 267 scored reps)
*In the event of a tie, individuals with the higher AMRAP score will be placed higher (Barbara in the above example).
Team
Athlete A will start on the rower while athlete B starts on the Double DB Front Squats. At 3-2-1- go, Athlete A will have 1 min to complete max calories on rower while Athlete B is performing AMRAP of Front Squats and Alt. DB Snatch. At the 1 min mark (clock will count 3-2-1- go), athletes will switch positions and Athlete A will continue Front Squats and Alt. DB Snatch where Athlete B left off. Athlete B will continue on Rower for max Cals (do not reset rower!). This pattern will continue until the 10 min mark and athletes have accumulated a total number of calories on the rower and a total number of reps on the workout (5 min each on rower (rollover calories count), total reps of 27 front squats and 21 snatches on the AMRAP (5.27.21 is day of Chelsea’s accident).
RX Division
DB Front Squats: M = 100 lb total, F = 70 lb total
Alt. DB Snatch: M = 50 lb, F = 35 lb
Scaled Division
DB Front Squats: M = 70 lb total, F = 50 lb total
Alt. DB Snatch: M = 35 lb, F = 25 lb
Team Scoring
Each team will receive one score of total adjusted calories rowed (M/M calories will be multiplied by 0.8375 and F/F calories will be divided by 0.806 as shown below) plus total reps completed on the AMRAP portion. M/F scores will not need to be adjusted.
