2019 Alpha Games Floater WOD

If you haven’t signed up yet, now is your last chance! If you are still looking for a partner, we need two male scaled athletes to match up with Grace or Bri Abreo and two RX female athletes if you want to match up with Mike Polinski or Tristan. We were going to try and give you guys a pass this year and do a fun little atlas stone workout in the sand and pool at The Woods apartments for the floater, butttttt after 4 emails, 5 calls, 2 visits, and 2 texts, I guess the managers there knew that Haste just had to be the staple floater for the Alpha Games. Without further ado, we present the 2019 Floater.

*Both partners must complete the above. While one partner is working on the machine the other must do the following holds in the following order (to match the machines above) at 65% of your body weight rounded up to the nearest 5 lbs loaded on a barbell.

Double Overhand Deadlift

** and the kicker, cause you know there’s always a kicker with my programming ;) If the barbell touches the ground or the holder is no repped at any point during the hold, the workout may not continue until both athletes have done 5 bear hug stone squats (100/70-ish) and the barbell is back in the correct hold position. For the holds to meet standard:

Overhead: barbell must be overhead and not touching any part of your body other than the palms of your hands. You may not be sitting on anything, but you may be in a squat position if desired.

Front Rack: barbell must be above the sternum and below the chin and knees must be locked out the entire time.

Double Overhand Deadlift: Barbell must be in the top of the deadlift position with double overhand hold. No grips/straps, chalk, or tape is allowed. You may hook grip. Knees and hips must be fully open. No over extending of the torso. Just stand tall and hold onto the bar. If you find a way for the bar to rest on your body, its a no rep.

If you do not hold in the above positions for the entire time your partner is on the matching machine, you will be no repped and required to do the stone squats. While your partner is moving from machine to machine, yo may hold the barbell in any manner as long as it does not touch the ground. If the barbell touches the ground at any point you will both be required to do the stone squats. YOU WILL NOT HAVE A RACK. THE BARBELL STARTS ON THE GROUND! This means you need to clean and jerk or snatch the barbell up for the first hold. The bike may not start until the barbell is overhead. You will only have one barbell so when the first athlete is done on the machines, you will be responsible for loading your weights.

Scaled Version: see everything above but replace the stones with (70/40-ish) and holds with 45%. Sorry, but we made the cap longer so you guys can get the full experience on the machines this year ;)
