What a year this has been! We’ve definitely had the opportunity to test our core values through everything 2020 has thrown at us… halfway through- and there is still more happening. In case you haven’t heard, the CEO of CrossFit has made some very questionable responses/comments recently. Most are outlined on Rocket CrossFit’s Blog Post here. We don’t want to spread negativity, only awareness of the current situation and what our stance is.
After taking a day to think about what has been going on, I am doing my best to choose to look at the positives in this situation. Part of how we have defined Gratitude has helped me understand this a bit better- “Gratitude is how we interpret the chaos around us and continually choose positivity and grace for everyone involved.”
Quint and I fell in love with CrossFit in 2014 because of the community and positivity associated with the gyms we were parts of. We do not agree with Greg Glassman’s response to Alyssa or even understand his recent tweets. In no way do we want his actions to be a representation of what we are about. The beauty of CrossFit is that it is what you make it. Each gym owner can run the gym the way they want and form the culture they believe in. Just because the word CrossFit is in our name, does not mean anything other than we believe in CrossFit’s methodology and definition of fitness.
I do not want to speak on Quint’s behalf, but I personally see more of a liability than a benefit of being associated with CrossFit moving forward. That being said, we are in a partnership and he and we will have a discussion about what we think is best for us as a community moving forward. We believe the reason the community at BWCF is so strong is 100% because of you guys and will gladly have a discussion with anyone that would like to express their feelings and stance about what direction BWCF should/ends up taking. We do not want to knee jerk and want to make sure we are clearly communicating where we are as owners and what we see beneficial for the future. We are rarely smart enough to see all sides, so please express your opinions to us in a clear and positive way so we can understand other perspectives and have all the data we need to make an informed decision. Regardless of what happens, we will still continue to operate a gym focused on helping you achieve your goals. We love each and every one of you and are so thankful to have the pack family that we do.
